As members of USA Hockey, the Amateur Hockey Association of Illinois (AHAI), the Northern Illinois Hockey League (NIHL) and the Northwest Hockey League (NWHL) we conduct the organization in accordance with their rules and guidelines - holding our Coaches and Parents to the highest standard of conduct.

At RHO we field teams ranging from the Mite to Midget level. Before every Fall season, players are invited to a Preseason Conditioning Camp that culminates in Tryouts and team placement.
Beyond the standard list of gear and safety equipment (neck and mouth guard included), the following is a list of Items required of all RHO players:
PeeWee & Bantam
Coach Steve Sarauer, is a four year veteran of the Redwing Organization and has also lead the Barrington Bronco JV Teams to two State Championship titles and two runner-up finishes. Prior to the Redwings, Steve coached in the Milwaukee area on several AAA teams ranging from squirt on up to major midgets as well as high school club teams. While coaching Steve was also a standout for the club team at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Panthers. Steve jumped into coaching after sustaining a career ending injury while attending the Phoenix Coyotes NHL Rookie Camp in 2002.
Squirt & Bantam
Rob returns to the Chicago area after an excellent Division 1 college hockey career at the University Illinois at Chicago. He is the record holder at UIC for Power Play goals and the CCHA record holder for PP goals by a freshmen. After his playing days at UIC Rob signed with the Detroit Redwings organization and played professionally over 8 seasons. Rob won the Colonial Cup with Muskegon Fury in 2002. He brings a wealth of hockey experience and 15 plus years coaching experience to the program. Rob is also the current Hockey Director for the Barrington Broncos.
Mite & Learn to Skate
Steve Martins was drafted in 1994 by Hartford Whalers after graduating and playing at Harvard University. Martins’ professional career spanned 10 years including 267 games in the NHL with teams such as the Hartford Whalers, Carolina Hurricanes, Tampa Bay Lightning, New York Islanders, St. Louis Blues, and the Ottawa Senators. Martins bookended his successful hockey career in Chicago first appearing with the Chicago Wolves in 1997-98 (helping the them win the IHL Turner Cup), and again from 2006-2009 where he helped them win another championship - this time the 2008 AHL Calder Cup
